Why ACV vs RCV matters so much
On a typical $28,000 Colorado roof claim with a 10-year-old roof and 50% depreciation:
- RCV policy: Full recovery of $24,000 ($28K - $4K deductible). Depreciation released after work completion.
- ACV policy: Only $10,000 ($14K depreciated value - $4K deductible). The $14,000 of depreciation is forfeited forever.
That's a $14,000 difference on the same storm and same roof — just based on policy type. Most Colorado homeowners should be on RCV. If you're on ACV, strongly consider switching at renewal.
